Bamboo series 1960s vase by Olle Alberius for Swedish Rörstrand

This vintage 14 cm high vase from the Bamboo series by Swedish designer Olle Alberius for Rörstrand features a unique mid-century style. Made of ceramic and in very good condition, it is a perfect addition to any collection or as a statement piece in any room. Made in Sweden with an attribution mark.

Olle Alberius (1926–1993) was a Swedish ceramicist and glass designer celebrated for his inventive contributions to mid-century Scandinavian design. Trained in ceramics at Stockholm’s College of Art, Craft and Design, he began his career at Syco Keramik in the 1950s before joining Rörstrand in 1963. There, he gained recognition for elegant tableware and artistic designs such as the “Sarek” series, subtly inspired by Swedish nature.

In 1971, Alberius became a key designer at Orrefors, where he mastered and innovated with glassmaking techniques like Ariel and Graal. He created expressive art glass works and sculptural vessels—such as the dynamic “Kavalkad” series—that highlighted his flair for form, color, and craftsmanship. Today, Alberius’s pieces are admired for their organic beauty, technical sophistication, and cultural resonance, and are included in prominent museum collections across Sweden.
