HMN a/s, originally founded in 1934 in Copenhagen, was born out of the vision of Holger Marius Nielsen, who recognized the potential of innovative metal-bending techniques. Early products included beds, reading tables, shower and commode chairs for hospitals and care facilities, alongside furniture for everyday residential use.

HMN of Denmark began in the 1930s as a progressive furniture maker using innovative metalwork techniques. It evolved into a leading producer of rehab and care equipment known for functional design, quality, and adaptability. Additionally, its mid-century furniture—especially adjustable tray tables—continues to be appreciated for its timeless Scandinavian elegance.
