The Eklipta lamp, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959, is a timeless wall and ceiling fixture characterized by its soft, diffused light. Originally created for staircases at Rødovre Town Hall and later used in St. Catherine’s College, Oxford, the lamp features a circular opal glass shade that produces a warm, even glow—an expression of Jacobsen’s dedication to both function and sculptural form.

Six lamps available.

Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971)
Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen was one of the leading figures of 20th-century modernism. Known for his holistic approach, he designed not only groundbreaking buildings but also the furniture, textiles, and lighting that completed them. His iconic works include the Egg, Swan, and Series 7 chairs, alongside architectural projects such as SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Jacobsen’s designs remain celebrated for their clarity, elegance, and functional beauty.

Manufacturer
The Eklipta lamp is today produced by Louis Poulsen, the Danish lighting manufacturer known for close collaborations with leading architects and designers. Founded in 1874, Louis Poulsen has played a defining role in Scandinavian lighting design, emphasizing functionality, craftsmanship, and a human-centric approach to light.

For a short period, the Eklipta was also manufactured in Finland by Orno, a respected lighting company based in Helsinki. Orno worked with many Nordic designers and brought Jacobsen’s work to the Finnish market before production was consolidated under Louis Poulsen.
