Two 9201 lamps, Paavo Tynell for GUBI
An iconic table lamp designed by Paavo Tynell in the 1940s and originally manufactured by Taito Oy, the Helsinki-based lighting company he co-founded in 1918.
Model 9201 exemplifies Tynell’s signature approach: a slender brass stem, refined detailing, and a softly diffusing shade that creates a warm, atmospheric light. The design reflects the elegance and restraint of Nordic modernism while maintaining a strong sculptural presence.
Production of Tynell’s original lamps continued through Taito and later Idman into the mid-20th century. Decades later, the Danish design company GUBI acquired the rights and reintroduced selected Tynell designs to production in 2018.
Equally suited for a desk, side table, or living space, the lamp combines functional clarity with timeless form.
