Le Klint
Le Klint is a Danish lighting company best known for its signature hand-folded lampshades, a hallmark of Scandinavian design. The tradition began in the early 20th century when architect P.V. Jensen-Klint created a pleated paper lampshade for an oil lamp he had designed. The unique folding technique diffused the light softly and evenly, giving it a warm, ambient quality.
In 1943, Jensen-Klint’s son Tage Klint officially founded Le Klint in Odense, Denmark, turning the handcrafted shades into a commercial success. The company combined artisanal folding skills with high-quality materials, and each shade continued to be made by hand — a practice still maintained today.
Le Klint’s designs reflect Danish modern principles: functionality, simplicity, and timeless aesthetics. Over the decades, the brand has collaborated with notable designers and expanded its range, but the folded shade remains its most iconic product, recognized worldwide as a symbol of Danish craftsmanship.
