Prins Eugen (Prince Eugen Napoleon Nicolaus of Sweden, 1865–1947) was a Swedish royal, painter, and patron of the arts, celebrated for his atmospheric landscapes and his dedication to promoting culture in Sweden. Trained in Paris during the late 19th century, he developed a refined style influenced by both Impressionism and Nordic light, often depicting the Swedish countryside with a poetic, almost dreamlike quality.

Beyond his own artistic achievements, Prins Eugen was a major supporter of fellow Scandinavian artists, collecting and commissioning works that enriched Sweden’s cultural heritage. His former home, Waldemarsudde in Stockholm, now serves as a museum, preserving his art and collection. Today, his paintings are prized for their beauty, historical significance, and connection to Sweden’s artistic golden age.
